Detect Mana

Spell Access Level: Cantrip
Mana Cost: 0
Potion / Rune / Scroll / Wand: No / No / No / No
Cast Time: 1 Swift Action
Range: Visual
Duration: Concentration

The caster can detect whether something within their visual range is magical or not by the object giving off a bright blue glimmer. They cannot discern what type of spell the magic is or how powerful and instead can only determine that magic is present or that it is derived from mana
Enchanted items have the entire item glow while individual or inactive runes have only the rune glowing. If a spell is active or covers an area of effect, the entire effected area glows to indicate where the spell begins and ends. Only creatures with the “Aura” defensive trait give off a magical glow unless the creature is enchanted, under the effects of an immediate spell, or are constructed of mana themselves such as Eidolons.
The spell can only be used if the caster has the Vision sense and cannot be used with other visual replacement senses such as echo-location, tremor sense, scent, or anything else other than “Vision” itself. Attempting to do so automatically fails. However, the range of the spell does increase if the range of the caster’s vision increases such as by using a telescope or increased senses via spells or technology including artificial or augmented vision.
If the caster has an affinity then they can look for specific sources of mana or that “Mana” spells is being used such as for their bloodline or various traits. What kind of affinity can be seen depends on the caster’s Mana Affinity.
