Akashic Schools

Akashic Schools of Magic and Combat

The Akashic Court created a School of Magic and a School of Combat that exists outside of all worlds in the center of the Verse. It is safe from all external influence and cannot be accessed except by the students and teachers of the Schools. Those who attend these schools take Classes that grant them Rank Emblems within the school. Upon graduating, they maintain their Rank Emblems and also are granted their Class Uniform. Characters can only take one Class at a time and may only attend one School at a time. Once complete, they may attend either School and take a new class. Rank Emblems and Uniforms are only valid for their School Class and must gain new Ranks within their new Classes.

This massive school has no physical appearance externally and only exists within the realm of the Akashic Court as a dimensional space of unknown size. Time does not flow normally here yet time still flows normally externally despite having no affect on the School itself. Half of the school is dedicated to Magic and the study of mana while the other half is dedicated to combat and the art of war.

The schools have multiple rooms and areas. All students have access to the Class Room but can only attend the class they are signed up for. Interestingly, all students access the same one Class Room but each student somehow only attends the Class they belong in despite entering through the same door. The Akashi who teaches the class is simply known as the Teacher and no one knows how and if it teaches all classes simultaneously.

There is also an Akashic Colosseum that both students of the School of Combat and the School of Magic can attend. Here, students can battle each other without the risk of death. This allows them to fight and give their all as if in a real life or death scenario. Any mana, health, ammo, materials, or used items used during the fight in the Colosseum are fully replenished and restored after the combat is done. Just like the Class Room, multiple students can use it simultaneously and not interfere with others. Often students use the Colosseum as a boast and form of status among their peers. All students have access to the Colosseum regardless of Rank.

Once students have their Rank 1 Emblem they gain access to their Dorm. The Dorm, although finite in size, has dimensional storage spaces that allow them to store a nearly unlimited amount of items for safety. The Character can also decorate this room how they please and it includes a Cooking area, a Bathing area, and a Rest Spot. Only characters that have Emblems can access Dorm rooms and Dorm rooms cannot be shared by more than one Character pending Verse Master discretion and exceptions such as couples, companions, and Rides.

At Rank 2 the student has access to the Crafting Bench & Forge. Here, students have access to all the tools necessary to Craft any crafting material or to forge any weapon or armor. The student stiff needs to provide the materials to do so but the Crafting Bench and Forge have perfect condition tools that do not break to use. Using the Crafting Bench and Forge provides a +10 bonus to Craft, Alchemy, Enchant, Spell Craft, or Scribe while using it.

At Rank 3 the student has access to the Skill & Study Hall. Here, students have access to various tools that allow them to practice their Skills and Training and to study their Knowledge to gain Intuition Points. Once per day they can use it to practice their Skill, Training, and Knowledge and may do so for each once. The Study Hall has all books necessary for each Knowledge and the Skill Hall has all tools necessary for practicing skills such as podiums for talking, rock walls for climbing, puzzles to practice solving, and more.

At Rank 4 the student has access to the Practice Facility. Here, students can practice their Ability Scores to gain Practice Points and it includes a Gym, Stretch Hall, Endurance Stadium, Meditation Ground, Research Lab, and Social Setting. Using the Facility provides a temporary +10 bonus to the student’s Strength, Constitution, Dexterity, Sanity, Intellect, or Empathy Check while in use. The Facility can only be used once a day for each of the Ability Scores once each.

At Rank 5 the student has access to the Akashic Library. Here, books on subjects from across the Verse can be found and the students can attempt to research any topic they wish. They may learn about any known creature in the Verse as well. Histories of entire worlds, races, and individuals can be found here. Additionally, the Library sells Instruction Manuals of every spell and feat at the low, low cost of 10,000 currency pieces each.

Once a student has a class Uniform they gain access to Rashid’s Bazaar. Here, items and objects from across the Verse are available including ones from time eras not known to the student. Various weapons, armors, items, and magical items are available here. Access to the shop is regulated by the VM.

Rank Emblems & Uniform
  • Rank 1 Emblem: The Class Emblem takes the form of either an amulet, trinket, or card that the Character keeps on them that identifies them as a member of their School and Class. This allows them to have special privileges such as access to a private dorm and certain rooms in the School. This may also make them favorable with other members of their Class pending Verse Master discretion. Characters can use the Emblem to magically teleport themselves to their Dorm at the School at any time as a Swift Action. Each Emblem varies from class to class and is unique. The Emblem cannot be purchased, sold, or stolen and attempting to do so fails as it is permanently bound to the Character. The Emblem is not considered to be a spell or magical and therefore cannot be Nullified.
  • Rank 2 Emblem: Identical to the previous Emblem except that it is signified to be of Rank 2. This provides access to more areas in the School including access to the sections of the Crafting Bench and Forge.
  • Rank 3 Emblem: Identical to the previous Emblem except that it is signified to be of Rank 3. This provides access to more areas in the School including the Skill & Study Hall.
  • Rank 4 Emblem: Identical to the previous Emblem except that it is signified to be of Rank 4. This provides access to more areas in the School including the Practice Facility.
  • Rank 5 Emblem: Identical to the previous Emblem except that it is signified to be of Rank 5. This provides access to more areas in the School including the Akashic Library.
  • Uniform: The Character can don their Uniform as a Swift Action and doing so replaces all armor or outfits the Character is currently wearing by unknown means. The Uniform replicates all of the stats, abilities, runes, curses, material, and hardness of the armor the Character was wearing and only changes in appearance. While wearing the Uniform, the Character gains one additional Action that can be used as either a Free, Instant, Swift, or Standard action and can even be used in addition to a Full Round Action performed on the same turn. They can only use this additional action once a day. This provides access to more areas in the School including access to Rashid’s Bazaar pending the Verse Master’s discretion. The Uniform varies from class to class and is unique. The uniform cannot be purchased, sold, or stolen and attempting to do so fails as it is permanently bound to the Character. The Uniform is not considered to be a spell or magical and therefore cannot be Nullified.

Acidmancer

Acidmancer is the magical art dedicated to the manipulation of Acid Affinity magic.

Tier One: Acidmancer Pupil
Prerequisites: Mana Affinity (Acid)
Reward: Rank 1 Emblem
Test: Craft one Magic Item that has Mana Affinity (Acid) by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Acidmancer Pupil” and the Rank 1 Emblem.

Tier Two: Acidmancer Initiate
Prerequisites: Mana Halo
Reward: Rank 2 Emblem
Test: Successfully avoid being poisoned by using the Mana Halo spell that has Acid Affinity by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Acidmancer Initiate” and the Rank 2 Emblem.

Tier Three: Acidmancer Acolyte
Prerequisites: Mana Rain
Reward: Rank 3 Emblem
Test: Successfully make five non-magical items gain the fragile condition by using the Mana Rain spell that has Acid Affinity by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Acidmancer Acolyte” and the Rank 3 Emblem.

Tier Four: Acidmancer Specialist
Prerequisites: Mana Suit
Reward: Rank 4 Emblem
Test: Successfully burn one opponent while grappling them by using the Mana Suit spell that has Acid Affinity by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Acidmancer Specialist” and the Rank 4 Emblem.

Tier Five: Acidmancer Adeptus
Prerequisites: Mana Blast
Reward: Rank 5 Emblem
Test: Kill at least four opponents simultaneously with with a spray of acid that was made with the Mana Blast spellthat has Acid Affinity by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Acidmancer Adeptus” and the Rank 5 Emblem.

Tier Six: Acidmancer
Prerequisites: Mana Body
Reward: Acidmancer Uniform
Test: Kill at least one opponent with no assistance whose APL or CR is greater than the Character’s level while only using the Mana Body spell that has Acid Affinity by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Acidmancer” and the Acidmancer Uniform. While wearing the Acidmancer Uniform the Character is immune to Acid Damage and Mana Affinity (Acid) status effects.

Aquamancer

Aquamancy is the magical art dedicated to the manipulation of Water Affinity magic.

Tier One: Aquamancer Pupil
Prerequisites: Mana Affinity (Water)
Reward: Rank 1 Emblem
Test: Craft one Magic Item (enchanted item, potion or elixir, wand or staff, scroll or spell book) that has Mana Affinity (Water) by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Aquamancer Pupil” and the Rank 1 Emblem.

Tier Two: Aquamancer Initiate
Prerequisites: Mana Beam
Reward: Rank 2 Emblem
Test: Successfully provide the soak condition to one target that is on fire in order save the target by putting out the fire with the Mana Beam spell that has Water Affinity by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Aquamancer Initiate” and the Rank 2 Emblem.

Tier Three: Aquamancer Acolyte
Prerequisites: Mana Geyser
Reward: Rank 3 Emblem
Test: Successfully lift the Character to a location out of their natural reach with the Mana Geyser spell that has Water Affinity by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Aquamancer Acolyte” and the Rank 3 Emblem.

Tier Four: Aquamancer Specialist
Prerequisites: Water Sense
Reward: Rank 4 Emblem
Test: Detect and identify one unseen target successfully using Water Sense by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Aquamancer Specialist” and the Rank 4 Emblem.

Tier Five: Aquamancer Adeptus
Prerequisites: Mana Bloodline
Reward: Rank 5 Emblem
Test: Explore an underwater location that the Character would not normally be capable of exploring without the ability to breathe underwater by using Mana Bloodline spell that has Water Affinity by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. If the Character can naturally breathe underwater then they must defeat an enemy while underwater while using Mana Bloodline spell that has Water Affinity by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Aquamancer Adeptus” and the Rank 5 Emblem.

Tier Six: Aquamancer
Prerequisites: Mana Body
Reward: Aquamancer Uniform
Test: Kill at least one opponent with no assistance whose APL or CR is greater than the Character’s level while only using the Mana Body spell that has Water Affinity by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Aquamancer” and the Aquamancer Uniform. While wearing the Aquamancer Uniform the Character is immune to Water Damage and Mana Affinity (Water) status effects.

Chronomancer

Chronomancy is the magical art dedicated to the manipulation of Time Affinity magic.

Tier One: Chronomancer Pupil
Prerequisites: Mana Affinity (Time)
Reward: Rank 1 Emblem
Test: Create one Magic Item that has Mana Affinity (Time) by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Chronomancer Pupil” and the Rank 1 Emblem.

Tier Two: Chronomancer Initiate
Prerequisites: Haste or Slow
Reward: Rank 2 Emblem
Test: Escape from an enemy the Character cannot defeat in combat by either having the target enemy under the effects of Slow or by having the Character under the effects of Haste by casting the learned spells from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Chronomancer Initiate” and the Rank 2 Emblem.

Tier Three: Chronomancer Acolyte
Prerequisites: Weapon From Time
Reward: Rank 3 Emblem
Test: Kill one enemy with only a weapon that has been summoned with the spell Weapon From Time by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Chronomancer Acolyte” and the Rank 3 Emblem.

Tier Four: Chronomancer Specialist
Prerequisites: Arrow of Time
Reward: Rank 4 Emblem
Test: Save one target creature from a status effect by ending the status effect early with the Arrow of Time spell by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Chronomancer Specialist”.

Tier Five: Chronomancer Adeptus
Prerequisites: Future Strike
Reward: Rank 5 Emblem
Test: Successfully defeat an enemy in combat by having the final blow dealt to them be from the result of the Future Strike spell by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Chronomancer Adeptus” and the Rank 5 Emblem.

Tier Six: Chronomancer
Prerequisites: Erase From Time
Reward: Chronomancer Uniform
Test: Defeat one enemy by using the Erase From Time spell by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Chronomancer” and the Chronomancer Uniform. While wearing the Chronomancer Uniform the Character is immune to Time Damage and Mana Affinity (Time) status effects.

Cryomancer

Cryomancy is the magical art dedicated to the manipulation of Cold Affinity magic.

Test: Successfully have the Character access a low location out of their natural reach by creating an ice slide with the Mana Fall spell that has Cold Affinity by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Cryomancer Initiate” and the Rank 2 Emblem.

Tier Three: Cryomancer Acolyte
Prerequisites: Mana Weapon
Reward: Rank 3 Emblem
Test: Kill one enemy with only a weapon made of ice that was made with the spell Mana Weapon spell by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Cryomancer Acolyte” and the Rank 3 Emblem.

Tier Four: Cryomancer Specialist

Test: Successfully hinder an opponent with the chilled condition while using the Mana Ring spell by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Cryomancer Specialist” and the Rank 4 Emblem.

Tier Five: Cryomancer Adeptus
Prerequisites: Mana Blast

Test: Kill at least four opponents simultaneously with with a blast of cold that was made with the Mana Blast spell that has Cold Affinity by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Test: Successfully stun at least three opponents simultaneously by using the Mana Rain spell with the Electricity Affinity by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Electricmancer Acolyte” and the Rank 3 Emblem.

Tier Four: Electricmancer Specialist
Prerequisites: Magnetic Field

Test: Kill at least one opponent with an attack that was repelled back at them while using the Magnetic Field spell by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Electricmancer Specialist” and the Rank 4 Emblem.

Tier Five: Electricmancer Adeptus
Prerequisites: Mana Blast
Reward: Rank 5 Emblem
Test: Kill at least four opponents simultaneously with a burst of electricity that was made with the Mana Blast spell that has Light Affinity by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Alternatively, break at least four electronics simultaneously using the same method. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Electricmancer Adeptus” and the Rank 5 Emblem.

Tier Six: Electricmancer
Prerequisites: Mana Body
Reward: Electricmancer Uniform
Test: Kill at least one opponent with no assistance whose APL or CR is greater than the Character’s level while only using the Mana Body spell that has Electricity Affinity by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Electricmancer” and the Electricmancer Uniform. While wearing the Electricmancer Uniform the Character is immune to Electricity Damage and Mana Affinity (Electricity) status effects.

Ethermancer

Ethermancy is the magical art dedicated to the manipulation of Ethereal Affinity magic.

Test: Create one Magic Item that has Mana Affinity (Ethereal) by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Ethermancer Pupil” and the Rank 1 Emblem.

Tier Two: Ethermancer Initiate
Prerequisites: Mana Charge
Reward: Rank 2 Emblem
Test: Kill an opponent with a weapon that has been charged with ethereal magic using the Mana Charge spell that has Ethereal Affinity by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Ethermancer Initiate” and the Rank 2 Emblem.

Tier Three: Ethermancer Acolyte
Prerequisites: Mana Walk
Reward: Rank 3 Emblem
Test: Successfully infiltrate an opponent’s secured room undetected while using the Mana Walk spell that has Ethereal Affinity by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Ethermancer Acolyte” and the Rank 3 Emblem.

Tier Four: Ethermancer Specialist
Prerequisites: Mana Web
Reward: Rank 4 Emblem
Test: Successfully capture and make helpless an ethereal target using the Mana Web spell that has Ethereal Affinity by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Ethermancer Specialist” and the Rank 4 Emblem.

Tier Five: Ethermancer Adeptus
Prerequisites: Soul Steal
Reward: Rank 5 Emblem
Test: Successfully transfer the soul of a slain target into an object using while the Soul Steal spell by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Ethermancer Adeptus” and the Rank 5 Emblem.

Tier Six: Ethermancer
Prerequisites: Astral Projection
Reward: Ethermancer Uniform
Test: Kill at least one opponent with no assistance whose APL or CR is greater than the Character’s level while undetected by the enemy using the Astral Projection spell by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Ethermancer” and the Ethermancer Uniform. While wearing the Ethermancer Uniform the Character is immune to Ether Damage and negative Mana Affinity (Acid) status effects.

Geomancer

Geomancer is the magical art dedicated to the manipulation of their environment by using magic.

Tier One: Geomancer Pupil
Prerequisites: Magic Field
Reward: Rank 1 Emblem
Test: Create one Magic Item that has the Magic Field spell by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Geomancer Pupil” and the Rank 1 Emblem.

Tier Two: Geomancer Initiate
Prerequisites: Obscuring Mist
Reward: Rank 2 Emblem
Test: Escape from an enemy the Character cannot defeat in combat by using the Obscuring Mist spell by casting the learned spells from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Geomancer Initiate” and the Rank 2 Emblem.

Tier Three: Geomancer Acolyte
Prerequisites: Environmental Affinity
Reward: Rank 3 Emblem
Test: Kill one opponent with a Mana spell using an elemental affinity from the environment while using the Environmental Affinity spell by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Geomancer Acolyte” and the Rank 3 Emblem.

Tier Four: Geomancer Specialist
Prerequisites: Shape Terrain
Reward: Rank 4 Emblem
Test: Successfully perform a ranged CMB attack on an opponent using the Shape Terrain spell by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Geomancer Specialist” and the Rank 4 Emblem.

Tier Five: Geomancer Adeptus
Prerequisites: Alter Weather
Reward: Rank 5 Emblem
Test: Successfully change the weather in order to gain a new Mana affinity to defeat an enemy with using Environmental Affinity by using the Alter Weather spell by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Geomancer Adeptus” and the Reward 5 Emblem.

Tier Six: Geomancer
Prerequisites: Warp World
Reward: Geomancer Uniform
Test: Kill at least one opponent with no assistance whose APL or CR is greater than the Character’s level by making the environment hostile towards them and defeating them using only the environment using the Warp World spell by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Geomancer” and the Geomancer Uniform. While wearing the Geomancer Uniform the Character is immune to negative Weather Condition effects and negative Environmental hazards and effects.

Gravimancer

Gravimancy is the magical art dedicated to the manipulation of Gravity Affinity magic.

Test: Create one Magic Item that has Mana Affinity (Gravity) by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Gravimancer Pupil” and the Rank 1 Emblem.

Reward: Rank 2 Emblem
Test: Trip an opponent during combat in order to defeat with the Force Push spell by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Gravimancer Initiate” and the Rank 2 Emblem.

Tier Three: Gravimancer Acolyte
Prerequisites: Mana Walk
Reward: Rank 3 Emblem
Test: Successfully transport an item the Character would not naturally be able to by avoiding being encumbered while using the Mana Walk spell that has Gravity Affinity by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Gravimancer Acolyte” and the Rank 3 Emblem.

Tier Four: Gravimancer Specialist
Prerequisites: Alter Mass
Reward: Rank 4 Emblem
Test: Successfully decrease the mass of an object the Character naturally would be incapable of carrying so that they can carry it using the Alter Mass spell by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Gravimancer Specialist” and the Rank 4 Emblem.

Tier Five: Gravimancer Adeptus
Prerequisites: Telekinesis
Reward: Rank 5 Emblem
Test: Kill an opponent by throwing an object at them using the Telekinesis spell by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Gravimancer Adeptus” and the Rank 5 Emblem.

Tier Six: Gravimancer
Prerequisites: Reverse Gravity
Reward: Gravimancer Uniform
Test: Kill at least one helpless opponent with no assistance whose APL or CR is greater than the Character’s level while using the Reverse Gravity spell by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Gravimancer” and the Gravimancer Uniform. While wearing the Gravimancer Uniform the Character is immune to Gravity Damage and negative Mana Affinity (Gravity) status effects.

Hemomancer

Hemomancy is the magical art dedicated to the manipulation of Blood magic.

Tier One: Hemomancer Pupil
Prerequisites: Arcane Inscription

Test: Successfully gain access to an area the Character naturally cannot get to by using the Fly spell by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. If the Character can naturally fly then they must get another target creature to an area they naturally cannot get to by using the Fly spell. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Ventusmancer Adeptus” and the Rank 5 Emblem.

Test: Kill at least one opponent with no assistance whose APL or CR is greater than the Character’s level while only using the Mana Body spell that has Air Affinity by casting the learned spell from the Character’s Spell List. Task: Successfully cast a spell by replenishing the Character’s Health or Mana Pool by using the Channel Pools archetype feat after having completely depleting the Character’s Mana or Health Pool while in combat. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Channeler Specialist” and the Rank 4 Emblem.

Tier Five: Channeler Adeptus

Task: Kill two or more opponents simultaneously with spell attacks by using the Spin Attack combat feat while using the Dual Casting combat feat to cast two different spells while using the Channel State archetype feat to cast one spell from the Character’s Mana Pool and the other spell from the Character’s Health Pool. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Channeler Adeptus” and the Rank 5 Emblem.

Tier Six: Channeler

Task: Kill at least one opponent with no assistance whose APL or CR is greater than the Character’s level in a single blow while the opponent is at full health by using the Channel Energy archetype feat to drain the last of the opponent’s health and restore the Character’s Mana Pool. While wearing the Channeler Uniform the Character is always considered to be in their Channeling State as per Channeler State feat.

Task: Either kill at least one opponent with no assistance whose APL or CR is greater than the Character’s level in a single blow while the opponent is at full health by using the Paladin’s Strike archetype feat or prevent a fatal attack made against the Character by using the Paladin’s Strike archetype feat. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Paladin” and the Paladin Uniform. While wearing the Paladin Uniform the Paladin’s summoned weapon or armor does not have a time limit.

Task: Successfully disable a device that the Character naturally would not be able to while using the Rogue Disable archetype feat. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Rogue Initiate” and the Rank 2 Emblem.

Task: Kill at least one opponent with no assistance whose APL or CR is greater than the Character’s level with affinity damage from the Character’s Bloodline while using the Samurai’s Clan archetype feat. Completion of this task grants the Character the title of “Samurai” and the Samurai Uniform. While wearing the Samurai’s Uniform, the Samurai’s Possession lasts for the entire initiated combat instead of for a number of rounds equal to their level.
